Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2025  ·  Effective date: MAI 2026

GreenifySpace (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the website greenifyspace.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have regarding your personal data.

We take your privacy seriously. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not run advertising networks on this site. We will never contact you without your permission except to deliver a service you specifically requested.

1. Who We Are

GreenifySpace is a houseplant care blog and resource platform run by a passionate plant enthusiast dedicated to helping indoor gardens thrive. Based in the heart of the botanical community, this space provides expert tips and green inspiration, and you can always reach out for advice or collaborations at [email protected].

2. What Information We Collect

2.1 Information you give us directly

We only collect information you actively choose to provide:

  • Email address — when you subscribe to our newsletter or request a PDF export from one of our tools
  • First name — optionally, when subscribing to our newsletter, to personalise emails
  • Comment data — if you leave a comment on a blog post, we collect your name, email address, and website (optional), plus your IP address and browser user agent for spam detection

2.2 Information collected automatically

When you visit greenifyspace.com, certain technical information is collected automatically by our hosting provider and analytics service:

  • IP address — used to detect spam and for basic geographic analytics (country-level only)
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Referring URL — the page you came from before visiting our site
  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Date and time of your visit

This data is collected in aggregate and is not linked to your identity unless you have also provided your email address.

2.3 Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and browser local storage in limited ways:

  • WordPress session cookies — set automatically by WordPress to manage your session if you log in. These are strictly necessary and cannot be disabled without preventing login
  • Comment cookies — if you leave a comment, WordPress saves your name, email, and website in browser cookies for 1 year so you don’t have to re-enter them next time
  • Analytics cookies — if we use a third-party analytics service, it may set cookies to track page visits across sessions. See Section 4 for details
  • Browser local storage — our Plant Care Journal tool uses your browser’s local storage to save your plant list and watering logs. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:

  • To send our newsletter — if you subscribed, we use your email address and first name to send you our weekly plant care tips email. We use a third-party email service provider to send these emails (see Section 4)
  • To send PDF exports — if you request a PDF from one of our tools, we use your email address to deliver that PDF
  • To display and moderate comments — if you leave a comment, we display your name and use your email and IP address for spam detection. Your email address is never displayed publicly
  • To understand site performance — aggregate analytics help us understand which guides are most useful and how to improve the site
  • To prevent abuse — IP addresses and user agent data are used to detect and block spam and malicious traffic

We do not use your personal data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose not listed above. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data with any third party.

4. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of third-party services to operate this site. Each has its own privacy policy:

4.1 Web hosting

Our website is hosted on a third-party server. Our hosting provider processes your IP address and technical request data as part of delivering the website to you. This processing is necessary to operate the website and is covered by our hosting provider’s privacy policy.

4.2 Email marketing

If you subscribe to our newsletter, your name and email address are stored with our email marketing service provider (such as Mailchimp, ConvertKit, or Kit). That provider processes your data according to their own privacy policy, which we recommend you review. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send you, or by emailing us at [email protected] .

4.3 Analytics

We may use an analytics service such as Google Analytics or a privacy-focused alternative (such as Plausible or Fathom) to understand how visitors use our site. If we use Google Analytics, it may set cookies and collect data subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. We use IP anonymisation where available. If we use a privacy-focused analytics tool, no cookies are set and no personal data is collected.

4.4 Pinterest

Our site includes “Save to Pinterest” buttons. If you interact with these buttons, Pinterest may set cookies on your device according to Pinterest’s Privacy Policy. We do not receive any personal data from Pinterest as a result of these interactions.

4.5 Google Fonts

Our site uses Google Fonts, which are loaded from Google’s servers. When you visit the site, your browser sends a request to Google’s servers, which may log your IP address. We use font preloading to minimise data sharing. You can review Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

4.6 Amazon Associates

GreenifySpace participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program. When you click an Amazon affiliate link on our site, Amazon may set cookies on your device to track any resulting purchase. We earn a small commission if you make a qualifying purchase at no extra cost to you. Amazon’s privacy policy governs any data Amazon collects. We do not receive any personal data from Amazon beyond aggregate reporting of clicks and commissions.

5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Consent — for newsletter subscriptions and PDF delivery. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing or contacting us
  • Legitimate interests — for spam detection, security, and aggregate analytics. We have assessed that our legitimate interests do not override your rights in these cases
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to retain certain data by law

6. How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Newsletter subscribers — we retain your data for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we delete your data from our email platform within 30 days, subject to our provider’s data retention terms
  • Comments — retained indefinitely unless you request deletion
  • Server logs — typically retained for 30–90 days by our hosting provider
  • PDF request emails — we do not store these separately beyond the email platform subscription record

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — you can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your personal data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to pause processing while a dispute is resolved
  • Right to data portability — you can request your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format
  • Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Right to withdraw consent — where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

If you believe we have not handled your data lawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (for example, the ICO in the UK, or your national supervisory authority in the EU).

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you additional rights:

  • The right to know what personal information we collect, use, and share
  • The right to delete your personal information (subject to certain exceptions)
  • The right to opt out of the sale of your personal information — we do not sell personal information
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA rights

To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].

9. Children’s Privacy

GreenifySpace is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

10. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include HTTPS encryption on all pages, restricted access to databases, and using reputable third-party service providers with their own security programmes. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Data Transfers

If you are located in the EEA or UK, your personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside the EEA/UK, including the United States, where some of our service providers are based. Where we transfer data outside the EEA/UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place — such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions — to protect your data in accordance with applicable law.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify newsletter subscribers by email. Your continued use of the site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
